Make this day a special one
See the world for all you’re worth
Give delight to another
Take some of your own
Find laughter
smiles
peace
and moments with meaning
In the morning we’ll have biscuits
with a walking hibiscus
In the company of moles seeking treasure.
By afternoon we will reach the fair fairy home
Where the most graceful of creatures roam
And stop to share lunch, with a family of gnomes,
of burrcherries smothered in double chocolate sea foam.
And when it comes time to lay down our heads
In that little boat we will make up soft beds
of phoenix tail feather and bright silken threads.
We will drift off to sleep while the willow trees sing
dreaming of what tomorrow will bring.
Let’s you and me
Go live in a fantasy
A world of our own fabrication
We’ll trade in our old townhouses
And move in next door to some gnomes
We’ll fly silver dragons
to work everyday
making little straw boats for the fairies
And we’ll spend our days off
Chatting up centaurs
and tending the burrcherries
I live on the edge of my dreams
Refusing to fully wake
Because reality is more tolerable
With a ready means of escape

Though I walk alone
I am not without humanity
Though I stand apart
I am not isolated
Though the world is a mystery
I do not fear the dark
We spend our lives in pursuit of the silliest concerns;
Social norms, fame, and the proper body form.
And what do we get when the marathon is finished?
Fair-weather friends, heartache, and a shattered self-image.
But there are some who bring more from their toil;
Acceptance, intelligence, and a love of this world.
Step up, take your place in the sun.
Taking that helping hand will not diminish you. The sun can shine just as brightly on two.

Remember this is your story. Give yourself some good parts.
Even the tiniest flower
